Potty Time

So we have been "pre-potty" training for a few weeks now and Monday I decided it was time to get a potty for Rylar, as well as 80 diapers since we needed more. I was going to give him a few days to get comfortable with it but apparently he took to it just fine. When I was at work on Tuesday I received a phone call from Nana B who was watching him for the day saying he had used his potty! Rylar used his potty 4 times yesterday!!! I am so proud/shocked! He decided he was ready to start potty training even before I was. So we went and bought big boy underwear today only to learn that they don't make them small enough for his skinny self, at least not that I have found. So my little 19 month old is walking around in big boy underwear that are too big! It's so cute!

So today hasn't gone nearly as smooth as yesterday, which I'm sure we will have a fair share of. But we have had a successful transaction so I'm happy! Let the wonderful world of potty training begin!

Big Boy

Wow it has been sooo long. And how things have changed. We have a 1 1/2 yr old! Rylar has turned out to be a little "Baby Genius". You can never under estimate this little man and what he knows or is capable of. I usually don't tell people his milestones since it is bragging a bit but we are so proud!

At this point in time, he can read more words than we can keep count of (well over 100) which he of course also says. He is starting to read phrases or groups of words. Talks constantly and repeats everything you say and puts multiple words together. Of course he's a monkey and there isn't anything he can't climb. He can also count to about 12 now, the teens are confusing of course. And he knows almost his whole alphabet, there are about 3 that give him a hard time. He knows all of his shapes; square, triangle, oval, star, diamond, circle, sometimes rectangle. His favorite thing to do right now are I Spy books! It's amazing to watch. In just a couple of days he will memorize the whole book and can find anything you ask him too.

Though the one thing Rylar is having a hard time with are his colors. He can read all their names and knows them but cannot correctly label them. I'm not quite convinced he's not color blind.

He still has tons of spirit in everything he does. He still throws temper tantrums though they are getting less often and don't last quite as long. Since he understands so much we have already started time out which he fully grasps and works beautifully. Most of the time he will stop when given his warning!

We are starting pre-potty training! His pediatrician recommended we go ahead since he's so aware and advanced. He just told me he was wet and needed a dry diaper for the first time!! So it's a start.

It's also amazing to see how big he is after starting out so very small! He is almost 3 feet tall! He is in the 95% for height and 15% for weight, so it looks like he will be very tall and skinny! I call him my string bean. He's finally getting more hair, and his eyes are officially hazel!

And I definitely can't forget that he sleeps through the night now!!! This was a huge one of course!! It only took about 15 months!

He still is a sweet and affectionate boy which we all love! He loves people, though doesn't have too much interest in younger kids, except to point out that they are babies. He really is a little boy now and never ceases to amaze us!!!

All By Myself

As I was cleaning yesterday I came across this...

This is a big deal for us as Rylar usually only wants to take things apart or undo them. He is really starting to make some connections and think about things. This toy has been around for ages and I know why. This is by far Rylar's favorite toy right now. Whether he is banging them together, wearing them on his wrist or using them to slide on the floor. He LOVES IT!! He always has at least one in his hand 75% of the day!

Pictures

Sorry it's been so long since Ive put pictures up but it takes some time and we all know this is scarce these days...And of course its not working correctly right now so I will have to add some later..but I promise I will do it soon.

One, Two, Three, Four

One...the number of little munchkins we have and almost his age!
Two...Before we received news of the biggest and best surprise of our lives we thought that we would like our children to be two years apart so they could be close friends...that means that we would need to get pregnant again in the next 6 yes SIX months!!...Oh man, totally not happening..we have so much going on with just the one that I couldn't think about being ready to try for another in the next 6 months. Doubling everything
Three...the number of short months before my little baby sees his first Birthday!! We all know that this time flies but seriously..WOW...He won't be my little baby for much longer. I am so glad that I have been able to truly cherish this short time while he's little.
Four...The number of full nights sleep Rylar has graced us with without us needing to get up and take care of him. I know for some babies we are doing good to get 4 nights in almost 9 months, but it surly doesn't seem that way. And this also helps to reinforce our feelings about #2 so soon.

What a day!

Well today was an exciting day! I finally can say Rylar is officially getting his first tooth! I knew this day would eventually come where he would look more like a little boy and less like my baby! And of course as every other parent knows what fun comes along with getting teeth, my poor baby. Danny asked if we have to go through this everytime he gets a new tooth.
And other big news... the bank accepted our offer on the house!! "We won" If all goes well we will be home owners! It's going to be so great!! We have very big plans and are excited about this decision!
I am a quarter of a century old today. weird. Everyone says "it's all going to go by so fast".
What a day!
pictures soon

So many changes

There are so many new things going on in the Copa household I haven't gotten on to blog cause I new it would take awhile...
So just a couple of quick things cause I don't have very much time these days... Everyday seems to bring something new. Rylar changes into more of a little boy each and everyday!! He loves to crawl under things, through things, climb on top of things..he is into everything and pulling up on everything! He can get himself completly out of a seat when he is strapped in and then climb back in when ever he so desires! Rylar is also very fearless!! It is only a matter of time before he is walking because he has no fear of letting go. He lets go and reaches for objects 2-3 ft away from him without fear of what he will be falling into! Needless to say this gives mommy a heart attack! And when he wants down from standing he simply lets go and falls on his butt. We have many bumps and falls on a daily basis as i'm sure many do at this age.
He seems to be understanding us more and more and you can see mannerisms that i'm sure he will continue to have throughout his adult life... Being a parent and watching a child grow is truly one of the most amazing things in life!
Also making daddy VERY happy...Rylar now consistently holds his own bottle and can feed himself!! YAY It has taken awhile for this one since he loves to cover his face, pull his left ear and rub his eyes when he eats. I think it is the cutest thing ever! But now he has learned to hold the bottle with one hand and do all of the above with the other. I know it usually takes awhile to be able to tell but we are pretty sure Rylar will be right handed since he favors that one more than the other.
And last but not least, we have put an offer on another house and should find out soon if we get it..this of course is very exciting and stressful all at the same time so I try not to let it consume me...
